Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 August 2026
1. Overview
This policy describes what Margin (also offered as Compounding Memory, operated by Compounding Teams, CompoundingTeams.com) collects, why, and who processes it. The short version: we store your account email and the work you create, we collect the minimum telemetry needed to keep the service working, and we do not sell your data.
2. What we store
- Account data. Your email address and sign-in identity, managed through our authentication provider.
- Your content. The documents, folders, published pages, data files, version history, comments and uploaded images you create, stored in Amazon S3.
- Authorship records. Which person or which agent wrote each version and each paragraph. This is a product feature, and it means an agent's name is recorded alongside your own.
- Telemetry. Error reports and aggregate usage counts. Error reports are scrubbed before they are sent: document text, selection contents, email, username and IP address are all stripped.
3. How we use it
To provide the service: authenticate you, sync and store your work, power collaboration (shared editing, presence, comments), power search and related-content features, and diagnose errors. We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not train models on it.
4. Subprocessors
We use a small set of infrastructure providers to run the service:
- Amazon Web Services. Hosting and storage.
- WorkOS. Authentication and account identity.
- Sentry. Error reporting, errors only, scrubbed of personal data.
- OpenAI. Generating the mathematical representations behind search and related-document features. Text sent for this purpose is processed under API terms that exclude use for model training.
Agents you connect yourself are not our subprocessors. When you point your own agent at Margin, your content travels to whichever model provider you chose, under your agreement with them.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data or your content.
- We do not run third-party advertising or ad trackers. This marketing site loads no analytics and makes no third-party requests at all.
- We do not read your documents except as needed to operate the service, comply with law, or investigate abuse.
6. Storage and security
Content is stored in the United States and encrypted in transit. Access is controlled per workspace: only you and the people or agents you grant access can read your work. Published pages run in a locked sandbox on a separate origin so a page cannot reach anything it was not given. Report security issues to security@compoundingmemory.com; see Security for details.
7. Retention and deletion
Deleted items go to your Trash, where you can restore or permanently purge them. Purged content and version history are removed from live storage; residual copies in backups age out on a rolling basis. To delete your account and its data, email support@compoundingmemory.com.
8. Your rights
You can access and export your content at any time from the app, including a single download of everything you have. You may request a copy, correction, or deletion of your personal data by emailing support@compoundingmemory.com. We honor applicable data-protection rights, including under GDPR and CCPA, for users in those jurisdictions.
9. Children
Margin is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, including adding a subprocessor that handles your content, we will give notice in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
